GPS as Road X-Ray

June 25, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Recently got a GPS. Yes. Till now Google Maps was satisfying all our travel needs. I haven’t yet used the GPS to travel any long-distance.  I am driving around with my GPS in my usual routes – son’s daycare, work, library, friends’ place, grocery shop, pharmacy, coffee shop, garbage dump.

GPS is adding an extra dimension to my regular road trips.

This is how my mundane trips looked before GPS:

And here it is with GPS:

As you can see, previously streets joining my road were uni-dimensional. Now, these streets show their characteristics – a street forms a neighbourhood loop, another street leads to a dead end, yet another street goes round a pond.

My GPS is acting as Road X-Ray – Not only showing the front of the streets, but also what is well behind them.

I am becoming a road detective !!!  Every day, every travel, finding new routes !!!
